The Potential In You

(For those who missed it this week)

Why do we set such low goals and expectations? Why do we give up so quickly on God-given dreams? Perhaps, it is because we do not comprehend the terms of the New Covenant and the measure of power available to us.

Consider Ephesians 3:20.
“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

Note the location of God’s power in

the New Covenant. It is not heaven. It is the believer. Now, note that God’s power in us is active. It “worketh”. Work is defined as effort made to accomplish a purpose or result. The power of God is working, inside of us, to achieve results. And because the tense of the verb in Greek is the present tense, it means that His power is always working inside of us, never stopping.

Now, pay attention to what the verse says God is able to accomplish for us with the power He has placed in us. He is “able to do exceeding, abundantly above all that we ask or think.” The Amplified Bible makes it even more clear. God is able “to carry out His purpose and do superabundantly, far over and above all that we dare ask or think (infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams.)

We see God doing this in the life of Jesus. On one occasion, when faced with the need to feed a crowd of more than five-thousand people, He had only five loaves of bread and two fish on hand. But unlike us, Jesus was always conscious of the power God had put inside of Him and He knew what God could do with that power. So He gave thanks and with only a boy’s lunch in hand, Jesus dared to believe, to imagine, to ask God to feed the multitude. And that was just what happened. Not only was there enough food for every person, but at the end of the day twelve baskets of food were left over!

BChild of God, just like He did for Jesus, God has put more than enough power in you now to do everything you need to do in this life and the next. So there is no lack of power in you and you do not need to ask God to send any more power from heaven to fulfill your God-given dreams. All the power and ability you need to accomplish your assignments in life is inside of you already; permanently.

So if we do not need any more power, what do we need? Like Jesus, we need to be conscious always of our Father’s indwelling power and ability in us, believing that with this measure of power, He is able to do far over and above all that we dare to ask, think, or imagine. You see, it is not God, but the limitations we place upon God’s power in us by our small thinking and small praying that keep us from walking in the full measure of the power that is available to us every moment of every day.
.
What are you asking God to do for you based on the promises He has made in His Word? What do you desire God to do through you? What are the dreams you carry in your heart that you believe are from God? Since God is absolutely confident that with the measure of power He has put in you already, He is able to do everything you can ask for and infinitely more, dare to dream big, ask for much, and believe for the impossible.

Your potential is really unlimited in Christ Jesus. Really!

  1. Thank you Bishop and may the Lord continue to endow you with even much greater wisdon and knowledge and I also thank God for those controlling this medium that is giving us all the opportunity to hear the word God from you on the daily basis and not only on Sundays

Most of us may not know how much money$ a check signed in favor of us has for us, going to the bank to have it encashed does not matter much to us since we may not realise the benefits, I pray that the Holy Spirit will certainly empower and make us wise go to the bank.

  2. The Power that God has impacted in us is greater than what we can think or imagine indeed.

    Thank you Bishop.
