If God Is For Us

I was quite an athlete in my early years. Looking at me now, you might think I am kidding, but I really was. And I remember choosing teams and being concerned about who was on my side. There were certain guys I always wanted on my side because that would almost guarantee victory.

In Romans 8:31, Paul asked a question, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” In other words, if God is on our side, who can stop our progress? Who can prevent us from achieving our God-given assignment and fulfilling His dream for our lives? The answer, obviously, is no one!

We live in a fallen world and often find ourselves facing major challenges. Both spiritually and physically, we meet up with opposition that can appear insurmountable. Doubts and insecurities may bombard our minds. Our assailants want us to faint.

But we do not need to give up and quit as losers! No matter how hard the enemy fights against us, he cannot win. Why? We are on God’s side! And God is on ours!

“You come to me with a sword and a spear and a javelin, but I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand and I will strike you down and cut off your head.” (1 Samuel 17:45)

Poor Goliath, he was on the wrong side. He had God for an enemy. He didn’t stand a chance.

Child of God, your problems, no matter how great they appear, don’t stand a chance. They are on the wrong side. God is for you!

Do not faint. If God be for you, who can be against you?
