Spiritual Biology 101

Do you know that you are a three-part being and how each part affects you? Yes, you are an eternal spirit, with a soul, living in a body.

If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, your spirit has been recreated completely. Your inner man, the eternal part of you, is beautiful and perfect, with absolutely no flaw at all. Ephesians 2:10 describes your spirit as God’s “workmanship;” literally God’s “masterpiece”. Your spirit is shielded by God and remains perfect eternally in Christ.

Your recreated spirit is extremely powerful as well. Being joined to Christ and sharing His life, your spirit is equipped with all might and power. In fact, your spirit lives on and functions according to the same power that God manifested when He raised Jesus from the dead. You can do all things through Christ, who shares His strength with you, moment by moment. (Philippians 4:13)

Your body needs to be replaced. Jesus has already paid for your new body, but its delivery is scheduled for some definite date in the future. When Jesus returns, He will deliver our glorified bodies to us. We look with great anticipation to that day when mortality will be swallowed up by immortality. In the mean time, take good care of the one you have and learn how to receive healing through the Word of God. (Proverbs 4:20-22)

The third part of you is your mind, or soul. Your soul consists of your thoughts and imaginations. They in turn produce your emotions and desires. In order to walk in the perfect will of God and experience the blessed life God wants you to have on earth, your soul needs to be renewed. (Romans 12:1-2)

Think of the mind, or soul, as the valve on the faucet that regulates the rate and volume of water that flows from the reservoir through the pipes and into the sink. If the valve is shut, no water enters, even though the reservoir is filled with an abundant supply, far more than is needed. Whether or not the valve is open, and how wide, will determine the results obtained.

This means the soul, or mind, is critical to your earthly experiences. It is the link between all the riches and power of God resident in your recreated spirit and the physical world your body inhabits. Hence, to release the life and power of Christ from your spirit to change your physical world, you must renew your mind.

Your soul has the power to prevent the life-giving power in your spirit from ever reaching your physical body, or it can allow your body to be flooded with the same power that raised Jesus from the dead. If the valve is open, your mind renewed, you’ll experience healing, deliverance, anointing, victory, power, joy, prosperity, and more. So, keep it open.

How? Make every effort, depending on the help of the Holy Spirit, to meditate continually on the Word of Grace. Keep beholding Jesus in the Scriptures and keep acknowledging all the good things you already have in Him.
