Who Are You?
Do you know who you are? Ask the average Christian who he is, and he is likely to tell you what he does. He may tell you he is a doctor, a teacher, or some other profession. He mistakes what he does for who he is. This is a costly mistake spiritually. Who you are and what you do are not synonymous.
So who are you? If you have received Jesus as Savior, you are a “son of God.”
“But as many as did receive him to them he gave authority to become sons of God–to those believing in his name, who–not of blood nor of a will of flesh, nor of a will of man but–of God were begotten.” (John 1:12, 13 YLT98)
“For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings. For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,” (Hebrews 2:10, 11 NASB)
Wow, Jesus is no longer the only begotten Son of God! We are the sons of God also. Even as Jesus is, we “of God were begotten.” Now, every believer, like Jesus, can say with absolute integrity and truthfulness, “I am born of God and I have “son of God” life inside of me. God is my Father. I have His nature and His ability within.”
Now, let this truth sink in. When you received Jesus as your Savior, you became one of God’s “begotten sons.” You received brand new spiritual genes. Your spirit was made new and divine. You are not God, but you are God-like. You now carry “son of God” life inside of you.
Child of God, renew your mind to see yourself as you are in Christ. Start acknowledging you are “a begotten son of God.” Understand the life you carry inside of you is God’s and it is invincible. Then face every test, every temptation, declaring your confidence in and being grateful for the sufficiency and the invincibility of the divine life working in you. This is what makes you more than a conqueror. This is God’s gift to you, courtesy of Jesus!
Great presentation Bishop, may the wisdom of God placed in you for teaching His people be more sharpened in Jesus’ name, Amen
