Stop Disqualifying Yourself For Blessings
How many conditions do you need to meet to be blessed by God? Three, two, or one? The answer is one. That’s right, just one! And here it is.
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was
preached among you by us—by me, Silvanus, and Timothy—was not Yes and No, but in Him was Yes. For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. (2 Corinthians 1:19, 20 NKJV)
Now thanks be unto God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place. (2 Corinthians 2:14 KJV)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: (Ephesians 1:3 KJV)
Child of God, you only have to meet one condition to qualify for every blessing of God; only one condition to enjoy the fulfillment of every promise; only one condition for God always to cause you to triumph. And that condition is simply to be in Christ. Nothing more is required!
It is so simple that it’s hard for many to believe. Something so good cannot be so easy. Surely, there must be some other conditions. Surely, God expects us to do certain things in addition to being in Christ in order for Him to bless us. No, He doesn’t. If you have received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you’ve met the only condition God requires to be blessed with every spiritual blessing. Be in Christ!
One day Jesus’ disciples asked Him a question. “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” And Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” (John 6:28, 29 NKJV).
Being people of the Law, accustomed to long lists of demands, His answer undoubtedly shocked them. You mean all they had to do was believe in Jesus! What about keeping the law? What about long prayers and extended fasts? Had Jesus Himself not spoken these words, they surely would have rejected them.
Under the Law, Israel was required to obey the Ten Commandments, and meet conditions that ultimately disqualified every one of them. And would disqualify us as well, were we still required to meet them ourselves. But thank God, under grace, God’s only requirement of us is to be in His Son.
Are you in Christ? Then you are qualified under the terms of the New Covenant for every blessing. So stop disqualifying yourself on the basis of your performance. The only condition you need to meet to experience all of God’s promises to you is to be believe that Jesus met all of God’s conditions for you.
“Great,” you say. “I can sin as much as I please, and enjoy God’s blessings freely, if I am in Christ.” That’s true, with this caveat. If you want to sin as much you please, that is a sure sign you are definitely not in Christ!
