“If any man is in Christ he is a new creature.” God fundamentally changes a person when he or she receives Christ as Savior. He regenerates them spiritually, imparting to them His very own nature. This is the experience Jesus referred to as being “born-again” in His conversation with Nicodemus in John 3.
If you are a born-again Christian, this has happened to you. You are not the same person spiritually you were before you accepted Christ. You are a forgiven person. God has removed all your sins, past, present, and future, off of you. And He will never charge you with sin again as long as you are in His Son. He has also made you totally brand new!
We could say, God has replaced your hardware completely . The old equipment crashed. You could never live the life God planned for you with the old spirit you came into this world with. It was irreparable. So He made you a completely new spirit. A spirit-person made in the image of His Son! (Col. 3:10)
Now, your new “hardware” requires new “software” to run the program God designed it for. You are equipped with the hardware you need to be Christ-like in life and ministry, to bear the fruit of the spirit, to manifest God’s power and display His glory in a manner that others can see. But like a computer, your new spiritual hardware requires the right software, the right information, to operate effectively.
God is always ready to reveal this information to you in His Word and by His Spirit. But it’s your responsibility to download this information, divine revelation, into your heart and mind. You do so by spending time with Jesus in prayer and by meditating on the Word of His grace, the finished works of Christ, the promises of God, and other new covenant blessings. You do so with the goal of renewing your mind and reprogramming the way you think about God and about yourself.
Here is what Paul had to say about this.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. (Romans 12:1-2 NKJV)
Child of God, God has graciously provided you with the hardware you need for victory. All you need now is the right software. And that is available to you too, just waiting to be downloaded into your heart and mind. So what’s stopping you? Begin the download now. Begin experiencing victory today. Begin living the Christ-life today. Download!
