God Will Turn It Around

032316_God-Will-Turn-It-AroundAll over the world today, the Jewish people are commemorating the feast of Purim, the day God delivered them from Haman’s diabolical plot to exterminate them.  The story is recorded in the book of Esther. Haman was able to convince King Ahaseurus to issue a decree calling for the extermination of all Jews residing within his kingdom in one day.  He set his plan in motion. But God had another plan!

Long before Haman hatched his scheme, God knew what he would do. And how to stop him from succeeding.  God positioned Esther in the palace as Queen, and her uncle, Mordecai, at the gate to provide her with intelligence and guidance.  Armed with the right information, they engaged God’s favor by prayer and fasting.  And God responded by reversing the situation completely.

They hanged Haman on the very gallows he erected for Mordecai.  Then the king issued a counter-decree authorizing all the Jews to defend themselves on the day they were supposed to be exterminated. And they did.  Empowered by God, they defended themselves and gained a great victory that day over their enemies.

Now in the twelfth month (that is, the month Adar), on the thirteenth day when the king’s command and edict were about to be executed, on the day when the enemies of the Jews hoped to gain the mastery over them, it was turned to the contrary so that the Jews themselves gained the mastery over those who hated them. The Jews assembled in their cities throughout all the provinces of King Ahasuerus to lay hands on those who sought their harm; and no one could stand before them, for the dread of them had fallen on all the peoples. Even all the princes of the provinces, the satraps, the governors and those who were doing the king’s business assisted the Jews, because the dread of Mordecai had fallen on them. Indeed, Mordecai was great in the king’s house, and his fame spread throughout all the provinces; for the man Mordecai became greater and greater.”  (‭‭Esther‬ ‭9:1-4‬ ‭NASB‬‬)

God turned it around completely. A day of mourning became a day of rejoicing. Instead of tears of sadness, Israel experienced great joy. God proved once more to them that He alone is God, and none can curse whom He has blessed.

Child of God, He can do the same for you today.  Neither His character, nor His ability, has changed or diminished in any way. As He was for them, He is for you. Trust His faithfulness, rest in His love and claim His promises in prayer.  God will turn things around for you.  And all those who wish to see your downfall will live to see your uprising! Believest thou this?
