You Won!

160519_You_WonFeeling discouraged? Think you’ve been defeated? Seems the enemy has the upperhand? Discouragement is a common emotion.  But for the child of God, it is always the result of incomplete information.  A small misunderstanding can generate unnecessary anxiety.

When the Battle of Waterloo was fought two-hundred years ago, the British waited with baited breath for the outcome.  Finally, using the method of communication available to them before the age of the telephone and internet, the message began to appear in the sky,  being spelt out, one letter at a time.  “Wellington defeated ….” Those two words could be seen clearly.  Then a thick fog filled the air.  Not being able to see any other words, the people thought they’d lost.  Understandably, gloom and discouragement set in.  That’s because they thought this was the end of the message.  But it wasn’t!  After a while, another two words came through:  “Wellington defeated…the enemy.”  And discouragement gave way to joy!

The fog of life is real, and sometimes, it’s thick enough to hide God’s love and power from your eyes. But while the fog may make it difficult for you to see, the fog cannot change the truth.  Jesus defeated the enemy.  And, in the end, you win!

Here is the complete message:

“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.””  (‭‭John‬ ‭16:33‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.” (‭‭I Thessalonians‬ ‭5:23-24‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

Child of God, don’t allow the fog to deprive you of joy.  Read the entire message. Believe God’s report. “Jesus defeated…the enemy.”   You won!
