Jehovah Is Still God
During WWII, a woman named Gladys Aylward who served as a missionary in China was forced to flee when the Japanese army invaded northern China, taking with her 100 orphans. The trek was extremely difficult and at one point as she led the orphans into the mountains, she became very despondent, thinking they would not survive. At her lowest point, to give her hope, a 13-year-old girl reminded her of the story of Moses and the parting of the Red Sea. “‘But I am not Moses,’ she replied. ‘Of course you aren’t,’ the girl said, ‘but Jehovah is still God.’ Now that’s a word for us!
“For you are a holy people to the LORD your God; the LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. The LORD did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; but because the LORD loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers, the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. “Therefore know that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments; (Deuteronomy 7:6-9 NKJV)
It’s been more than 3000 years since Moses parted the Red Sea, but I am here to testify that Jehovah is still God. He is the faithful God. Look up synonyms for the word faithful and you will find such words as loyal, dependable, true, consistent, constant, steadfast, devoted, honest, unwavering, unchanging. Wow, our God is all that, plus some!
We live in an era of constant change and planned obsolescence. Nothing lasts for long. And it’s even worse with technology. Before you can get used to your current computer or smart phone, they are obsolete. I was cutting my hair the other day, and I heard a cell phone ring. And when I looked up, what did I see? My barber talking to his watch! Add to this all the other uncertainties that life brings, and you realize that in a world of constant change, our God is the only constant.
During a national radio talk show, the host was discussing several prominent celebrities whose personal hypocrisies had been exposed. He then asked a penetrating question. “Is there anyone out there who is what he claims to be?” I have an unequivocal answer to his question. “Yes, God is!”
After all these years, through many tests and trials, through many valleys, I have discovered for myself what the Prophets already knew. “The Lord our God He is God, the faithful God, who keeps covenant and mercy to a thousand generations.”
Recently, I read this powerful summary statement in Joshua 21:43-45.
So the Lord gave Israel all the land he had sworn to give their forefathers, and they took possession of it and settled there. The Lord gave them rest on every side, just as he had sworn to their forefathers. Not one of their enemies withstood them; the Lord handed all their enemies over to them. Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to the house of Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.
Child of God, in spite of all you have been through, have you found Him faithful? Then please join me now and say it loud, “Jehovah is still God. And He’s still faithful to me!”
Yes indeed. Jehovah, the Lord our God is still One God.
Amen and Amen, He is!
Thank you my Bishop. Amen! HE is still God. So comforting a word.
He is the same yesterday, today and forever.
Strong word Bishop! It blessed me.
Powerful truth, great inspiration. Wonderful to know that our God is the same as always and as He was with Moses, so is He with us. Thanks Bishop for the moment of Grace.
I needed this today more than any other day. Thank you for this prophetic word Bishop. God bless you!
Thank you Bishop, because Jehovah is still God I can still face tomorrow with certainty in my heart
Yeah, He still faithful, He is the only constant
