The Inheritance

170104_theinheritanceHow can you be sure God will favor you and bless you today? I’ve got news for you. It’s not because you will earn it, work for it or deserve it. No, God will favor you, increase you and do only good to you because of His covenant with Abraham!

Listen to what God said to Isaac.

Then he went up from there to Beersheba. And the LORD appeared to him the same night and said, “I am the God of your father Abraham; do not fear, for I am with you. I will bless you and multiply your descendants for My servant Abraham’s sake.”” (Genesis 26:23-24 NKJV)

Notice why God promised to bless Isaac. For Abraham’s sake!  In other words, “I will bless you, Isaac, not because of what you have done, but because of what Abraham, your father, did. Isaac, I will give you the land, I will prosper you, and make you very fruitful because I promised Abraham I will do this for his children. And you are Abraham’s son.”

Can you see that Isaac’s blessings were not based on his own covenant with God, but on God’s covenant with his father? It is important each of us gets to know God intimately for ourselves. There are too many benefits of having a personal, intimate knowledge of the Father not to, but it is also extremely important we know the blessing we live under and which follows us wherever we go, is not a blessing we work for or earn. It is a blessing we inherit as God keeps His covenant with Abraham to bless us through Jesus.

Yes, just like Isaac, you are a child of Abraham and heir of the same promise! Here is the Scriptural proof.

For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” (Galatians 3:26-29 NKJV).

Child of God, I hope you see the full impact of this promise. As far as God is concerned, you are Abraham’s spiritual son or daughter and His promise to Abraham covers you as much as it did Isaac! He promised to bless and prosper you “for My Servant Abraham’s sake.”  And just like He kept His promise to Abraham by blessing Isaac, He will keep that same promise by blessing you.
Good fathers try to leave an inheritance for their children, but wow, what an inheritance Abraham left us, his children.–the promise of God to be our God, to watch over us, to provide for us, to protect and prosper us all the days of their lives.

Remember this promise and keep it before you always. You are blessed for Abraham’s sake. Believe this, confess this and start walking in it. Abraham’s blessings are yours to enjoy. Amen!

  1. If Abraham blessings are mine than no need to struggle to be blessed, I am already blessed and see myself walking in it. Thank you Jesus for the grace to be blessed without working for it.
