Never Again!

For forty days and nights, it rained cats and dogs. The intense rain flooded the entire earth with water for a hundred and fifty days. Every human being died, except for Noah’s family. You can read about one of the worst disasters the earth has ever faced in the book of Genesis, chapters 6 thru 10. This was an act of divine judgment!

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And the LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth, and He was grieved in His heart. So the LORD said, “I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them.” But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.” (Genesis‬ ‭6:5-8‬ ‭NKJV)

Have things changed since? Look around, listen to the news, talk to people and it is hard not to conclude that ‬‬”the wickedness of man” is as great as ever. Godlessness is rampant. Should we be expecting God to destroy the earth again? Is another great flood imminent?

Nope! God promised this will never happen again.

And the LORD smelled a soothing aroma. Then the LORD said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man’s sake, although the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.” (Genesis‬ ‭8:21‬ ‭NKJV‬‬)

“”For this is like the waters of Noah to Me; For as I have sworn That the waters of Noah would no longer cover the earth, So have I sworn That I would not be angry with you, nor rebuke you. For the mountains shall depart And the hills be removed, But My kindness shall not depart from you, Nor shall My covenant of peace be removed,” Says the LORD, who has mercy on you.” (Isaiah‬ ‭54:9-10‬ ‭NKJV‬)

So we can be absolutely certain, God will never again destroy the earth as He did in Noah’s day because of man’s sins. Never!

But look again and you will see some other promises that should bless the socks off your feet. God also promises He will never ever again be angry with you, He will never stop being kind to you, and He will never allow anything you do to prevent Him from upholding and enforcing His covenant of peace on your behalf.

And just in case you were tempted to look at your sins and doubt His promises, He decided to strengthen the promises by adding an oath. “I swear to you,” He says, “I will not be angry with you again, no matter what. And even if the mountains depart, and the hills be removed, I swear to you, you can be absolutely certain, I will never remove my everlasting kindness and my covenant of peace from you.”

Noah’s flood? Never again! God’s anger directed at you? Never again! God’s covenant of peace removed from you? Never again! You have God’s Word on it.

Now, if God will never again remove His kindness from you, you should never again doubt His love for you.

Wow, thank God for Jesus! What a difference He has made.
