God’s In the Cockpit

God_Is_In_The_CockpitWhat is the will of God for your life? Is it God’s will for you to marry her or him? Should you go to this college or that one? Should you resign your job and begin your own business? These types of questions can create uncertainty and anxiety among believers struggling to make right decisions. They want to be in God’s will, but are unsure what that will is. They are asking God to tell them what to do, when to do it, and where, and become frustrated when they can not discern specifically what His will is.

But such frustration is unnecessary. God does have a will for our lives. We know that His will for us is perfect (Rom. 12:2). We know his plans for us are for good and not evil. (Jeremiah 29:11). And we know His highest desire is for us to prosper and be in health, even as our souls prosper (3 John 2).

What we should also know is that He who has the plan has taken upon Himself the responsibility of leading us and keeping us in His will. He has promised that He will order our steps and He will bring it to pass. Here are two of His promises to us.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5, 6 NKJV)

Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. (Psalm 37:5)

I do not know how to get to Timbuktu from Washington. But if I needed to be in Timbuktu by next week, I would not fret. I would simply make sure I board the right plane. Once on board, I would fasten my seatbelt and go to sleep. The pilot is responsible for getting me to my destination, and he will. I can rest, not because I know how to get to Timbuktu, but because I know the pilot does.

Trusting the Lord with all your heart and acknowledging Him in all your ways is how you board the plane that will get you safely to your divine appointment. Do this daily and you can recline your seat, get comfortable and enjoy the ride. The Divine Pilot is in the cockpit.

So instead of becoming frustrated when you can not say for certain this is what the Lord has told you to do, you can rest in His promise that He will get you to where you need to be on time, even if you encounter some turbulence along the way. All He asks of you is that you trust Him with all your heart and acknowledge Him in all your ways.

See you at your next stop!

  1. always a blessing to be here!

i’ve come to realize, in all my failures, in times of faithfulness, in times of unfaithfulness
God makes his will happened. our unfaithfulness will never change God’s faithfulness to his will (2 Timothy 2:13)

Faith does not make things happen, as it happened already in God’s hand. it is finish. it is done.

Faith gives us security in the journey

its like putting your seat belt while on the plane. some passengers nervously hold their seat so tight thinking they steer the plane. while some passenger goes to sleep.

reminds us of Jesus, “the great sleep, in the great storm”

    – grace and peace
