Your Untapped Potential
You’ve got more going for you than you realize. There’s more in you than meets the eye. You are a living treasure-house.
There’s a very interesting story recorded in 2 Kings 4:1-7, which illustrates this truth. A widow of a prophet approached Elisha in need of a miracle. Her husband died and left her with a huge debt she could not pay. Now, the creditors were at her door to collect and threatening to take her two sons away from her.
“What do you have in your house?” asked Elisha. She hesitated. “I have nothing,” she said.” “Nothing? Are you sure?” “Well, nothing except a jar of oil.” “Good,” said Elisha. “Go and get as many empty vessels as possible, close your door and begin to pour the contents of your jar of oil into them.”
She obeyed, perhaps a little skeptical at first. But as she poured out the oil out of her tiny jar, it kept flowing, filling vessel after vessel, until every container in her house was overflowing with oil. Finally, with no more empty containers left, her jar of oil stopped flowing.
She reported the outstanding results to Elisha. “Great,” he said. “Now go sell what you have, pay off your debt, and live on the rest.”She had become the CEO of her own oil-selling business!
Looking at that jar of oil you never would have known something so small could be so big. That something so little contained so much. That something so simple was so powerful!
Now, if Elisha could do this with her jar of oil, can you imagine what Jesus can do with your life? Just listen to what the Bible says regarding all who are in Christ:
“I have strength for all things in Christ Who empowers me [I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him Who infuses inner strength into me; I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency].” (Philippians 4:13 AMP)
“For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;” (1 Cor. 1:26ff KJV)
Child of God, there’s more in you than you realize. The size of your potential is the size of Christ in you. The Jesus in you is limitless. So, from now on, let the size of your expectation be determined, not by the size of your jar, but by the sizeof your God.
I’m blessed
Always a great and powerful teaching and am always blessed, thank you Bishop
Thanks dad.
This is so true, Bishop. We have so much that God has placed in us that we are not aware of. A woman of God told me this once:”the LORD wants you to do business because He wants you, and Him to work together. The job that you do keeps you very busy.” This was my reaction: ” Me! a business woman! all i have ever done is take care of people’
Amen! It’s a testimony and a confirmation! GOD blessed you so much Our Bishop!
Amen!
