Eat the Meal that Heals
She was diagnosed with herpes. Doctors told her there was no cure. She asked Jesus to heal her. And she started to take communion, daily, for her healing. Each day, she ate the bread and drank the grape juice, confessing “by His stripes we are healed.” She did so for months. Then she returned to the doctor. New tests were ordered. No trace of herpes. Totally healed. The doctors were wrong. There was
a cure. This meal heals!
The Lord’s Supper, or covenant meal, is more than a memorial. The bread and wine are more than mere symbols. The Holy Spirit uses them to convey divine life and power to our bodies. They are what theologians refer to as “means of grace.”
Moses’ rod was a means of grace. With it, God parted the Red Sea. Peter’s shadow and Paul’s clothing were means of grace as well. With them, God healed the sick, drove out demons, and worked miracles.
In 1 Corinthians 11, Paul directs our attention to the power of this meal to heal. Believers were sick and some had died prematurely because they failed to “discern the Lord’s body.” Not recognizing the power of the Lord to heal that is present in the covenant meal, they expected nothing and received nothing. What a loss.
In Genesis 2, Adam was told he would die if he ate of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. But in John 6, the disciples are told they would live if they ate of the Bread of Life. Both death and life are the result of eating.
This is the bread which comes down from heaven, that one may eat of it and not die. I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.(John 6:50, 51 NKJV)
Adam ate from the wrong tree and died. If we eat from the right tree, we will live.
As the living Father sent Me, and I live because of the Father, so he who feeds on Me will live because of Me. This is the bread which came down from heaven—not as your fathers ate the manna, and are dead. He who eats this bread will live forever.(John 6:57-58 NKJV)
Jesus is the Bread of Life. Partake of Him wholeheartedly, partake daily, partake confidently and patiently. And as you do so, confess your faith that His body and blood cleanses you from all your sins and heals you from all you diseases.
Beloved, this is the meal that heals. Eat and be made whole!
Good morning Bishop, I so, so thank God for Jesus.
Thanks Bishop for the word.
you can partake by grace only and not by works.
The Body and Blood of Jesus as we confess our sins to live with him forever. Great inspiration Bishop. Some of us love money so much that we even lie, steal and murder because we do not have love for the Almighty and his children. WE SHOULD CONFESS OUR SINS. Thanks,
