How Great Are You?

140319_How_Great_Are_YouHow great are you? Greater than the greatest of all prophets! You don’t believe me? Perhaps, you’ll believe Jesus.

But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he. (Luke 7:26-28 KJV)

John was the

greatest of the Old Testament prophets. Neither Moses, or Elijah, or Samuel was greater than he. But guess who is greater than John? You are. Even if you are the least in the kingdom in terms of your assignment, you are yet greater than the greatest of all prophets in the Old Testament. Wow!

If you don’t see yourself this way, you are not alone. Most Christians don’t, and that’s sad. Sad because this reflects that they lack a true understanding of the New Covenant and how far superior it is to the Old. They do not yet truly understand why God let the Old Covenant expire and become obsolete (Heb. 8:13). And so they keep holding on to an Old Testament image of themselves, still defining themselves as mere “sinners;” still seeing themselves like the Old Testament believers, whom Jesus referred to as people merely “born of women.”

You are greater than John. How is it possible for you to be greater than John? How is it possible for you to be greater than Moses and Elijah, and all the Old Testament prophets? What is the secret to your greatness?

Here it is. It is simple, yet profound. You are in Christ and Christ is in you! You are not among those who are merely “born of women;” you are born from above.

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. (2 Corinthians 5:17 KJV)

You see, John and the rest of the prophets belonged to the Old Testament economy. Not one of the Old Testament prophets was born-again. Not one of them was in Christ. And not one of them had Christ in them. None of those things could happen under the Old Testament because the blood of animals could not take away sins. But because we are under the New Covenant, we have been washed in Jesus’ own blood. We are clean spiritually; so clean that Jesus can live in us and we can become one with Him.

When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. (Colossians 3:4 NKJV)

Child of God, you need to awaken to the reality of who you are and what you possess. You are a member of His body. You are a partaker of His divine nature. Jesus is your life! And if you are in Christ and He is actually alive in you, then you are greater than John because Jesus did not live in John. But He lives in you!

You are indeed greater than the greatest of the prophets! You are born from above. Believe it and give thanks.
