You Are a Modern-Day Mary
Have you ever wondered what would it be like to have God Himself living inside of you? What would it be like to be so close to God, to be in dwelt by One so powerful and so good? How would this change you? Two thousand years ago, a young virgin, Mary, became pregnant with the Son of God. And for nine months, He lived inside of her body.
Now, what happened to Mary is in one sense, unique, but in another sense, it’s not. There will only be one virgin birth. But the coming of the Son of God to live in or inhabit the bodies of a human being is not unique at all. It is, in fact, the Good News that we proclaim; God wants to live inside of you.
Don’t you know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? (1 Corinthians 3:16 NCV)
God decided to let his people know this rich and glorious secret which he has for all people. This secret is Christ himself, who is in you. He is our only hope for glory. (Colossians 1:27 NCV)
You are, in fact, a modern day Mary! And what happened to Mary, when God decided to make His home in her, will happen to you too, if you respond to this announcement, as she did.
Then Mary said, “Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:38 NKJV)
Mary became bigger; you will grow and become a bigger person as JESUS lives in you. Mary produced fruit supernaturally; you will produce results and accomplish things beyond your natural ability as the supernatural life of JESUS develops in you. Like Mary, you will generate things and produce results that are not tied to, or determined by, your natural abilities alone. And the fruit that you will manifest will bless your generation and generations to come!
God made an offer to Mary, and with a simple declaration of faith and consent, Mary gave God the permission He required to place the life of His Son into her. Have you done so too? If not, please do so today.
Believer in JESUS, during this Christmas, and throughout the New Year, remember the Son of God lives in you, not as a fetus, but as a force. A force for good, a force for righteousness, a force for peace and prosperity! Like Mary, declare your consent, confess your faith, and let JESUS show up in your speech, your actions, and your decisions. And then, since JESUS will be manifested through you every day, every day will be Christmas!
