Is It Time to Leave Your Nest?
Before a baby eagle is hatched, its nest is prepared to provide a safe, comfortable place for it to be born, to grow, and be protected, because at that stage in its development, that is what it needs. A nice, warm, comfortable place. At that stage, it has nothing to do but to sleep, eat, and grow.
And that baby loves it! What a way to live! What a place to be! How comfortable, how convenient! Why mess with such a wonderful arrangement?
But things are destined to change. As it develops and starts to grow feathers, the eaglet notices that the nest is changing under it. Thorns start to appear in the nest. And now the nest that once brought it nothing but pleasure is beginning to be irritating, even painful at times.
What is happening? Mother eagle is stirring up the nest. She is removing the straws that once covered the thorns and made the nest comfortable for her baby. On purpose, she is destroying the nest she built. It may seem strange, and even mean of her to do so, but this is really an act of love.
Consider the implications. Her baby is an eagle. Her baby has wings. Those wings now have feathers. Her baby can fly. But her baby does not know this. And besides, her baby is so comfortable being in the nest that unless something happens to motivate it to leave the nest, it will remain in the nest all its life and die there.
What a tragedy, to be an eagle, to have eagle genes, eagle vision, eagle speed, eagle strength, eagle wings and die in the nest, without ever flying! No eagle should die in the nest. No eagle should die without ever flying.
But an even greater tragedy is to be a child of God, a partaker of the divine nature, one spirit with Christ, and live like a mere man! To be born of God and never know experientially what it is like to manifest the divine nature–to talk, walk, and love like God Himself. No child of God should die in the nest. No child of God should die without soaring like an eagle.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint. (Isaiah 40:30-31 NKJV)
Child of God, is it time to leave your nest? Are you willing to leave your comfort zone to fulfill your high high calling in Christ? You have supernatural genes and wings of faith. You can soar! So, what are you waiting for to stretch your wings of faith and let the wind of His Spirit take you higher than you ever thought possible?
Let the flying begin!
