A Life-Altering Decision
Be careful what you focus your mind upon because whatever you focus on will change you, for better, or for worse. Focus on lack and you will become anxious; on evil and you will become fearful; or on an offense committed against you and you will become bitter. Focus on Satan and you will experience bondage. Focus on the love of God and the grace of the Lord Jesus and you will experience righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Spirit every day. One of most life-altering decisions you make every day is on what you will focus your mind upon!
This is why you will find passages in the Bible that urge you to focus on things above and on things that are good. Here is one:
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory. Colossians 3:1-4 NKJV
Notice that these verses emphasize the importance of what you set your mind upon. And they specifically instruct you to fix your thoughts on Jesus and all the wonderful things God has already accomplished for you through His Son. Colossians 3 tells you to seek (i.e. focus on) those things which are above, and not on things on the earth. Why? Because when God raised Jesus up, He raised you up with Him as well. And where Christ sits is where you are sitting too, at the right hand of God. Furthermore, you are not just alive; Christ is your life. And since your life is hidden with Christ in God, you will never have a reason to be afraid, ever! To get to you, your enemy has to come through God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit!
Now, imagine how much more joy and peace, victory and success you would actually walk in daily if you decided to focus your thoughts on things above, Christ as your life. Your life would be transformed. Fear would give way to faith, weakness would give way to strength, and despair would be replaced with hope.
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. Philippians 4:8 KJV
Child of God, don’t focus on things below. That is a recipe for spiritual defeat. Instead, meditate daily on Jesus and on your spiritual position and inheritance. You can not rise any higher than the level of your thoughts. So, focus on things above, because what you focus on will change you, for better or for worse.
This life altering lesson was really good for me. I really want to know more about Jesus Chris.
Where do you live?
This is amazing. Thank you Bishop.
