Learn to Pray

Do you treat prayer like a fire extinguisher, reserving it only for times of emergencies, taking prayer seriously only when there is a crisis? If so, you are failing to take full advantage of the grace of God that is available to empower you to live victoriously each day. You have not because you ask not.
In Luke 18:1-8, Jesus told a Read More
The Potential In You

(For those who missed it this week)
Why do we set such low goals and expectations? Why do we give up so quickly on God-given dreams? Perhaps, it is because we do not comprehend the terms of the New Covenant and the measure of power available to us.
Consider Ephesians 3:20.
“Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”
Note the location of God’s power in

Why I Am a Christian

“What is the difference between Christianity and all other religions?” That was the question a group of theologians were discussing when C.S. Lewis walked in. Hearing them wrestle unsuccessfully with the question, he stated his answer. “The difference,” he said, “between Christianity and all other religions is the message of grace–the idea that God will justify the ungodly.” This is unique to Christianity.
Do your research and you will find this to be true. All other major world religions teach that Read More
It Is a Lie!

Have you ever been told you could have something you really wanted, but only if you met the conditions? Then when the conditions were revealed, you were disqualified because you could not meet them. Perhaps, it was a scholarship, or a new position at work that you really wanted, but you did not meet the qualifications required and so you were disappointed and discouraged.
In Deuteronomy 28:1-14, God promised a number of wonderful blessings to His people that covered every possible need they could have. He promised them victory over their enemies, protection from evil, and abundant prosperity. But to enjoy these blessings, they had to Read More
The Real Reason Jesus Died For You
Posted on June 12, 2012 6 Comments
I used to believe that the primary purpose for Jesus coming to die for sinners was to qualify them to go to heaven to be with God when they die. Now, this is one of the many blessings we receive through our faith in Christ. And I look forward to experiencing heaven when I die!
But I’ve recently come to see something about Jesus’ earthly mission that heretofore I had not seen so clearly. Contrary to what most Christians believe, Read More

“Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”(Hebrews 4:16 NASB)
Under the Old Testament, entering the presence of God was a very risky and fearful thing. When God gave The Ten Commandments at Mt. Sinai, He established physical boundaries to prevent the people from coming too close to Him lest they die. Only the High Priest, once a year, had His permission to enter the Holy of Holies, but only after engaging in an elaborate rite of purification. Anyone else who came into the Holy of Holies perished!
Because of the holiness of God and the sinfulness of man, it was as though Read More
Do This If You Sin

Do you ever commit sin? A child of God, one who has experienced spiritual rebirth by placing his faith in Jesus Christ, will not make a lifestyle of sin. He can not do so because God has now joined him to Christ spiritually, and this mystical union with the Holy One has fundamentally changed his nature. The new life he has on the inside creates an appetite for the things that please God and a discomfort with sin. Accordingly, in Christ, we are given both the desire and the power to live in obedience to God daily.
But unfortunately we have not learned to do so perfectly yet. We still miss the mark and stumble and fall from time to time. What should we do if we sin? Read More
True Love

I drew a line in the sand. “Enough is enough. Today, you have to choose between me and him.” And so at the ripe old age of fifteen I already felt I was entitled to the exclusive affection of the girl I was “in love” with. I would not tolerate any competition. Forced to choose, she did. Unfortunately, she did not have enough sense to choose me. She chose George! I went home and went to bed, a rejected boy. So if you think I am messed up today and in need of serious counseling, that’s why. Blame this girl who did not have enough sense to know what was good for her!
But thank God, one person’s trash is someone else’s treasure. While others may reject you, God does not. When He had to decide what to do with you, He chose you. Read More
Wholesale Forgiveness

When you need milk or shoes, you will likely head for a retail store to purchase a gallon of milk, or a pair of shoes. Most people are accustomed to shopping retail, purchasing what they need as the need arises. And that is how we think God offers us forgiveness, one sin at a time. But when it comes to forgiving sins, God is not Read More
