I Will Understand It Later

It’s sometime not too long after the Christmas party, after the big celebration.Angels have sung heavenly songs; the wise men have brought their gifts; the proud parents of Jesus have marveled at the miracle that God has wrought through them. But that was Christmas Day.
Today is another day, some time not too Read More
How Wise Men Worship

They followed the star. They traveled for months. It costs them a fortune. But they were determined. They must find Him. And worship Him.
“Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” (Matthew 2:1-2 KJV)
How determined are you today to worship Jesus? How far will you go, how much time will you invest, what Read More
Stop Trying to Have Faith

One of the greatest hindrances to living victoriously is the notion that we need more faith than we have. And that somehow it is our responsibility to generate this faith through self-effort. Nothing can be further from the truth.

Bill Gates has already given $28 billion dollars to charity, Warren Buffet $9 billion, while Mark Zuckerberg has pledged to give 99% of his wealth away. Impressive generosity. Yet, nothing compared to God!

Afraid of God

I am going to say it up front and perhaps make a lot of well-meaning Christians upset. Being afraid of God is never the right motive for obeying Him. And “obeying” God because you are afraid God will punish you by bringing bad things into your life, or taking away things from you, is the result of believing lies about God. It is in fact evidence of spiritual immaturity, which God wants you to grow out of, not into.
“And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him. Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment (punishment). But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. We love Him because He first loved us.” I John 4:16-19 NKJV

Living the Abundant Life

Are you struggling and seemingly losing your battle with the world, flesh, and devil? Are you suffering under the weight of guilt and shame? It does not have to be this way. God has a better plan for you. Jesus came to give you abundant life. (John 10:10)
The abundant life begins with believing the Gospel. “I am not ashamed of the Gospel,” Paul wrote, “for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone.” Is this for everyone, Paul? “Everyone who believes!” (Romans 1:16).
The word translated here as salvation is a comprehensive word in Greek which means to be made whole and complete. It speaks of Read More
Sexual Boundaries

Sex. Boundaries. The two should go together like a hand in a glove. But in this sex-crazed world where everything is sensual, perversion is rampant, and nakedness is ubiquitous, few lines exist. “Boundaries are burdens!” But are they?

Perfecting Your Love for God

Stop trying to love God. That’s right, I said, “Stop trying to love God.” How can I say this? Didn’t Jesus say the greatest commandment is to love God with all your heart? Yes, He did, but He never thought that you would be able to do so by “trying” your best. “By the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”
There is a better way. And John tells us what it is. It is Read More
