The Mirror

You probably looked in the mirror this morning. If you liked what you saw, you did nothing. But if you saw some things that did not belong on your face, or were out of place, you had a decision to make. Leave things as they were, or change things for the better.
Now, once you decided you needed to clean up your face and improve your appearance, did you Read More
You Won!

Feeling discouraged? Think you’ve been defeated? Seems the enemy has the upperhand? Discouragement is a common emotion. But for the child of God, it is always the result of incomplete information. A small misunderstanding can generate unnecessary anxiety.
When the Battle of Waterloo was fought two-hundred years ago, the British waited with baited breath for the outcome. Finally, using the method of communication available to them before the age of the telephone and internet, the message began to appear in the sky, being spelt out, Read More
When Being Helpless Is a Good Thing

One day some parents were bringing their infant children to Jesus when His disciples stopped and scolded them for “bothering” Jesus. But Jesus rebuked His disciples, saying,
“Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it.” (Luke 18:16-17 NKJV)
What is this essential quality all little children Read More
When Doing Good Is Sinful

Everybody knows it’s sinful to do forbidden things like cussing, gambling, and committing sexual immoral acts. We understand to do these things breaks God’s heart. That is why, in Luke 15, we find it easy to condemn the younger son in the Parable of the Prodigal Son. He lived wildly and did not come “to his senses” until he had lost everything.
But do you know you can sin and break God’s heart by Read More
Who’s Afraid of Grace?

It boggles my mind. I am struggling to understand. What is it about grace that scares folks? I’ve actually been cautioned by ministers that “even though we know that we are totally forgiven of all our sins, we can not preach that to baby Christians because they will use that knowledge to sin. Grace is for the mature.” Brethren, if we don’t preach the grace of God only, what are we to preach? Law? Mixture? No wonder the body of Christ is in such bad shape. How sad!
Grace is not a doctrine; it is a person. Read More
Repentance Is Not A Dirty Word

Does the word “repent” evoke a picture of an angry God pointing a condemning finger at you and threatening you with hell if you don’t stop sinning now? Unfortunately, what religion has done is to link this gift from God, the opportunity to repent, so much with sin, wrath, and judgment that when sinners hear the word it evokes a response of fear rather than joy and thanksgiving.
But repentance is actually Read More

What saves a man’s soul? What makes a Christian victorious? Not his decision to start attending church services weekly. Nor his decision to stop doing things he knows do not please the Lord. Not even his efforts to live by the Golden Rule! None of those things is enough. Men are not just bad. They are spiritually dead. And the only solution to death is life!
And that is the solution the Read More
It Is Finished!

I have a mortgage on my house. This means I have a financial debt on my house I owe to the bank. But what I do not have is a spiritual debt I owe to God for my sins. I have no sin debt whatsoever. And if you are in Christ, neither do you!
How can I say this? Because I Read More

All over the world today, the Jewish people are commemorating the feast of Purim, the day God delivered them from Haman’s diabolical plot to exterminate them. The story is recorded in the book of Esther. Haman was able to convince King Ahaseurus to issue a decree calling for the extermination of all Jews residing Read More
Is Your Body A House of Prayer?
Posted on March 16, 2016 3 Comments
In Matthew 21:12-16, Jesus enters the temple in Jerusalem and finds buying and selling in the portion of the temple reserved for Gentiles to pray. His reaction was swift and stern. “My house shall be called a house of prayer,” He shouted, “but you have made it a den of thieves.” And with a whip in hand, He overturned their tables and chased the money-changers out of the temple. That was a side of Jesus they had never seen!
